La Seu is the imposing Cathedral of Mallorca, in the Gothic style and rising majestically on the Paseo Marítimo next to the sea. Its tall towers and elegant flying buttresses stand as silent guardians of history, capturing the attention of all who stroll through the area. Next to it is the Royal Palace of the Almudaina and at its feet, the Parc de la Mar offers fabulous views of the bay. The Plaza de España is the nerve center of Palma. From there you can take the urban buses that run to different areas of the city and the airport, and there is also the intermodal station (train, bus and subway). You can quickly get to the Plaza Mayor on foot, where you usually find street markets, street artists, musicians and jugglers; then the Paseo del Borne, a pedestrian avenue that features a large number of stores, restaurants and cafes, or the Plaza de Cort, where the Town Hall of Palma is located.

A quick look at the Gothic quarter

Palma has an important medieval legacy, from when Jaume I conquered Madina Mayurka. Travel back in time through the different Gothic buildings in the city, such as the Church of Santa Margalida, the parish church of Sant Jaume, the fascinating gargoyles of the Church of Santa Eulalia or the cloister of the Convent of Sant Francesc. Another highlight is La Lonja, one of the best civil Gothic buildings in Palma. It has a rectangular floor plan covered with ribbed vaults. It forms a single space divided into twelve parts by six pillars without a base or capital that rise towards the ceiling to form the ribs of the vaults. These six pillars resemble stone palm trees. Above the entrance door there is a large sculpture of the Guardian Angel, attributed to Guillem Sagrera himself, who was a sculptor as well as an architect.
